Romania will continue to support Ukraine\u2019s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, Nicu\u0219or Dan said in a message posted on X and addressed, among others, to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

The message comes as Ukraine marks its Independence Day on August 24, 35 years after declaring independence from the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n

Nicu\u0219or Dan: Romania will continue to stand with Ukraine<\/h2>\n

The Romanian president congratulated the Ukrainian authorities and people and referred to their resistance in the face of the war launched by Russia.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the occasion of Ukraine\u2019s Independence Day, Romania extends its warmest congratulations, together with wishes for peace, security and prosperity. Today, we honor the extraordinary courage and heroic resilience of the Ukrainian people in defending our shared values and freedom,\u201d Nicu\u0219or Dan wrote.<\/p>\n

The head of state stressed that Bucharest would continue its support at a time when developments in the war in neighboring Ukraine also have direct implications for Romania\u2019s security and for NATO\u2019s entire eastern flank.<\/p>\n

\u201cRomania will continue to stand with Ukraine, firmly supporting the country\u2019s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ukraine can count on our multidimensional assistance,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n

Bucharest supports Ukraine\u2019s EU accession and reconstruction<\/h2>\n

Nicu\u0219or Dan also referred to the period following the end of the conflict, reaffirming Romania\u2019s commitment to Ukraine\u2019s European integration and post-war reconstruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cRomania also remains fully committed to supporting Ukraine\u2019s EU accession process and its post-conflict reconstruction,\u201d the head of state said.<\/p>\n

For Romania, Ukraine\u2019s accession to the European Union is of particular importance, as the two countries share a border of more than 600 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Bucharest is also among the supporters of EU enlargement toward countries in the Union\u2019s eastern neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Nicu\u0219or Dan highlights NATO\u2019s importance for regional security<\/h2>\n

The Romanian president also addressed the security dimension, arguing that NATO\u2019s continued engagement with Ukraine remains essential.<\/p>\n
